Let Us Remember That People Have Died

Annabeth Chickering

There is a sense of relief in the air these days. Masks are being lifted and people are emerging from their homes. Activities that had been canceled are resuming.

We can gather, eat together, drink together, hear music together; again.

We are moving back into offices, museums, schools, and bars. But as we rejoice in the return, please remember that people have died.

Most people, many people, are grieving; feeling a loss. Many people are anxious to return. They are scared of how things were; scared of how they will be.

There are less of us now than before.

Let us be brave enough to not forget the pain and the suffering as we welcome the joy and the sweetness. Let us remember our humanity, our sensitivity, and our collectiveness.

Let us remember the people who died.
